The Digital Learning Integration Project has officially launched in 20 secondary schools across five districts in Uganda, marking a significant milestone in the country's education transformation efforts. The project, funded by the Ministry of Education and Sports, aims to improve teaching quality and student learning outcomes through innovative technology integration.
Over 200 teachers will receive comprehensive training in digital pedagogy, while more than 5,000 students will benefit from enhanced learning experiences. The project includes the deployment of learning management systems, development of digital content, and establishment of computer laboratories.
Professor James Mugisha, the project coordinator, emphasized the importance of teacher training: "Technology is only as good as the people who use it. Our focus on comprehensive teacher training ensures that digital tools will be effectively integrated into the curriculum."
The project will run for two years with continuous monitoring and evaluation to assess impact and inform future expansion efforts.
